148 hour/8-week course teaches care of older patients with emphasis on the social, emotional, and spiritual needs. Covers procedures, communication and interpersonal relations, observation, charting and reporting, safety and infection control, anatomy and physiology, personal care, nutrition and patient feeding, death and dying. Includes laboratory and clinical practice hours. Upon successful completion of the course and practice exams, you can qualify for
Virginia’s Certified Nursing Assistant Examination (
written and manual skills). Training course features a low instructor/student ratio and prepares you to:
- Work in a long-term care setting
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse
- Help long-term care residents meet their physical, social, and psychological needs
- Includes required 100-hour class online lecture/ in-person practical skills
- Includes required 8-hour BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- Includes required 40-hour clinical (5 eight hour days assigned clinical site; daytime/weekend pending on clinical site availability)
- Includes required EBook, one certification exam voucher, BLS certification class, and much more!
Participants must be at least 18 years old and have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Must register & complete ONLINE mandatory info session. Must successfully pass the
literacy assessment administered at the scheduled mandatory info session. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Student must have a watch with a second hand. Must successfully complete a BLS for Healthcare Providers class before clinical – included & provided in NAE course. Expect prior to employment requirements such as background checks, updated immunization & TB test, and or physical exam.
Eligible students will be prepared to sit for the
NNAAP exam for NCSBN – National Council of State Boards of Nursing offered by PearsonVue. The exam consists of two components: a written or oral portion and a skills demonstration portion. Each candidate must successfully complete both components of the exam before a state can add their name to the state nurse aide registry. The state registry is used to assure employers that the potential hire has met the federal and state requirements for employment. To read more about this certification exam please visit:
